Glass Feathers

from Future Ghosts EP by Stoney Sills

about

Written after the passing of my first love. By no means was this meant to be an accurate representation of happened between us, I wrote this generally for others to relate too..If that makes any sense. It was painful to record & those emotions set the tone for the entire mood of the album. I composed this for guitar, but my fingers where sore so I improvised this on piano.

lyrics

Breaking even, collective matter.
Flutter down, silent shatter.
Transparent plumage gave away your intentions,
winged eyeliner and several honorable mentions.
Never wanted you to feel latched in a cage,
out the window like a ghost fleeing sage.
Hope you'll return with the changing weather,
soared right through me like glass feathers.

Constantly repressed like a Kit-Kat bar,
everytime I catch a glimpse of your car.
Haunting hell of seeing me through your eyes,
knowing all the reasons you choose to fly.
Constantly pretend I'm not seeing things,
like gremlins ripping apart airplane wings.
Crash and burn like the phoenix you where,
someday I hope they develope a cure.

Wish like hell you could've followed your dreams,
guess I'll keep hiding behind my dumb memes.
Refusing to burn out just like the rest,
I'll keep flapping till I'm outa this nest.
11 weeks since you replied back,
all tied up and stuck in your track.
Left us without saying a word,
farewell you lovely mocking bird.
